Scope of the job:
The Quality of Life Lead is responsible for leading and driving Auria’s Quality of Life strategy across all communities. The role focuses on creating and continuously improving purposeful programmes and experiences that enhance residents’ physical, psychological and social wellbeing, as well as their independence.
The role oversees the development, implementation and measurement of Quality of Life initiatives, ensuring programmes are inclusive, meaningful, evidence-based and aligned with resident needs and preferences. This position also drives innovation, shares best practice across communities and uses resident feedback and measurable outcomes to continuously improve the resident experience.
Areas of Responsibility:
- Develop and implement Auria’s Quality of Life Strategy and organisational standards across all communities.
- Ensure every community provides inclusive and meaningful opportunities for residents, regardless of health status, cognitive ability or level of care.
- Provide oversight of monthly social and wellness programmes, ensuring they are purposeful, experiential, evidence-based and outcome driven.
- Ensure programmes address all four Quality of Life pillars:
- Physical Wellbeing
- Psychological Wellbeing
- Social Wellbeing
- Independence
- Develop and oversee signature events, themed experiences and innovative initiatives that enhance resident enjoyment and engagement.
- Use resident feedback, participation data, satisfaction measures and wellbeing indicators to evaluate and continuously improve programmes.
- Develop and monitor Quality of Life dashboards and report on outcomes across Auria communities.
- Identify emerging trends, research and technology in ageing, wellness and resident engagement and translate these into innovative opportunities for Auria.
- Build strategic relationships with healthcare professionals, universities, community organisations, service providers and other external partners.
- Support communities in identifying and addressing social isolation and creating opportunities for connection and belonging.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to promote physical activity, fall prevention, psychological wellbeing and resident independence.
- Oversee QOL assessments and support individualised engagement plans aligned to residents’ preferences, histories and abilities.
- Share best practice and successful initiatives across communities to create consistency and continuous improvement.
- Manage budgets, external facilitators and service providers to ensure quality and value for money.
- Provide strategic insights and recommendations to the Head of Care & Wellbeing.
Requirements:
- Qualification in Occupational Therapy or Degree in Health-related Sciences
- Minimum 2–3 years’ experience in a care, wellness, or community engagement role
- Experience working with older persons, including those with cognitive decline
- Training in dementia care, mental health, or therapeutic activities
- Experience in programme design and evaluation
- Valid practice license with HPCSA or appropriate regulatory body
- Complies with accepted professional standards and principles
- Previous experience in Geriatric care would be an advantage
- Computer Literate – Proficient in Office 365 and Windows
- Valid driver’s licence

Scope of the job:
The General Manager is responsible for the overall leadership, strategic direction and operational management of a luxury senior living community. The role is accountable for driving occupancy and financial performance while ensuring exceptional resident experiences, service excellence and compliance across all departments. Leading a multidisciplinary team, the General Manager fosters a high-performance culture, develops future leaders, manages stakeholder relationships and ensures the community operates in line with Auria’s values, quality standards and business objectives.
Required, experience and competencies:
- Proven ability to maintain excellent physical standards and service levels in an upmarket environment.
- Strong business and commercial acumen, with sound financial management ability.
- Computer literate in MS Office (Outlook, Word, Excel & PowerPoint).
- Strong leadership and people-development skills, with a focus on local training programmes.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- A commitment to self-development, including participation in company training when required.
- Highly developed resident focus, with professionalism, warmth and sophistication.
- A high level of emotional intelligence.
- Sound industrial relations experience.
- An appropriate tertiary qualification, preferably from a reputable institution, or relevant experience.
- Experience in a residential environment and community management.

- Sales
- Achieve the highest possible occupancy at the best possible sales price, while maintaining sound control over waiting lists and contracts.
- Provide advice and support to residents, families and enquirers.
- Liaise with our development team and coordinate sales in line with our development programme.
- Resident Services
- Ensure residents receive efficient, courteous and professional service at all times, in line with company policy and procedures.
- Housekeeping
- Ensure consistently high and courteous service within this department.
- Food and Beverage
- Maintain the highest possible service standards for residents, in line with policy and procedures.
- Attend functions and resident events.
- Above-average knowledge of food, beverages, service and products.
- Experience in operational controls and the ability to implement them effectively.
- Ensure the highest safety and hygiene standards are maintained in our food and beverage department.
- Budgeting and Financial Control
- Assist with coordinating, preparing and motivating our annual operations budget.

- Manage operating equipment efficiently to maintain standards and control costs.

- Development / Opening
- Attend weekly development meetings and stay up to date on builders’ programmes and occupation dates.
- Provide operational insight to our development team.
- Meet with operational equipment installers.
- Recruit Heads of Department and our opening team.
- Source suppliers and equipment.
- Open supplier accounts and set up SLA agreements.
- Liaise with residents on occupation dates and assist with logistics.
- Oversee snagging of units and common areas
Other recommended attributes and requirements:
- Excellent sales/product knowledge.
- Degree in Hospitality, Care or Facilities Management.
- Knowledge of security, maintenance, community operations and senior care.
- Experience in drafting contractual agreements.
- Experience overseeing hospitality-related departments.
- Ability to negotiate care-related rentals.
