Coral Cove Care Centre Opens on the KZN North Coast

A new chapter in senior care has begun with the opening of the Coral Cove Care Centre, Auria Senior Living’s newest care centre on the KZN North Coast.

Located within Auria’s Coral Cove continuing-care retirement community, the 44-bed Care Centre provides dedicated support for older adults whose care needs have changed or who require a higher level of assistance. The Care Centre offers both frail care and dementia care, forming an important part of Coral Cove’s scale of care.

Celebrating the Opening of Coral Cove

Residents, families, friends and members of the Auria team recently came together to celebrate the official opening of Coral Cove, marking an important milestone for the Coral Cove community.

The celebration also offered guests an opportunity to learn more about the community’s care offering.

What Is Coral Cove Care Centre?

The Care Centre at Coral Cove is designed for older adults who require additional support as their care needs change. The 44-bed Care Centre provides frail care and dementia care, with a dedicated team supporting residents in an environment designed around their individual needs.

The Care Centre forms part of Coral Cove’s wider scale of care, which includes independent living, assisted living with home-based care, frail care and dementia care. This allows residents to remain connected to the community they know while accessing additional support as their care needs change, providing greater continuity for both residents and their families.

For families, moving a loved one into a care environment can be a significant transition. At Coral Cove, residents and their families are involved in the process, with the team taking the time to understand each resident as an individual and help families navigate the transition into care.

Residents living in the Care Centre also remain part of the wider Coral Cove community. They can continue to enjoy the community’s amenities and social environment, alongside an extended activity programme tailored specifically to residents living in the Care Centre.

Care, Comfort and Connection

The Care Centre at Coral Cove has been designed with residents’ day-to-day experience in mind. Natural light, access to outdoor spaces and carefully considered surroundings contribute to an environment that supports comfort, connection and quality of life.

The dedicated care team plays an important role in understanding residents’ individual needs and providing the appropriate level of support. This includes working with families to help create familiarity and continuity as residents settle into the Care Centre.

Care at Coral Cove extends beyond meeting physical care needs. The approach also considers residents’ social and emotional wellbeing, with activities and opportunities for connection forming part of life within the Care Centre.

“It was important for Coral Cove to include care as part of our service offering, to give our residents the peace of mind knowing that however their lives might change in the future, Coral Cove will be there to take care of their different needs,” says Jonathan Shutte, General Manager of Coral Cove.

The combination of dedicated care considered surroundings and continued connection to the wider community allows residents to access the support they need while remaining part of the Coral Cove lifestyle.
